Industry
We use biomedical measurement, signal processing and machine learning to carry out joint research with companies, including medical device manufacturers, and with research institutes. We welcome technical enquiries and proposals for collaboration.
What we can work on together
-
Biomedical sensing and measurement
Design and prototyping of sensors and measurement circuits for biosignals such as pulse waves, ECG and blood pressure, including wearable and unobtrusive measurement.
ExamplesNon-invasive continuous blood pressure monitoring system
-
Biosignal processing and analysis
Signal processing such as noise removal and feature extraction, and estimation of physiological indices (such as arterial stiffness) using mathematical models of the body.
ExamplesQuantitative assessment of sensory perception based on vascular mechanical propertiesEarly diagnosis support system for atherosclerosis
-
Machine learning for medical data
Building prediction models from medical data such as biosignals, laboratory values and images to predict declines in health and support diagnostic and treatment decisions.
ExamplesPredicting declines in health from biosignalsPrediction of haemoglobin concentration during cardiopulmonary bypassPost-stroke delirium prediction system
-
Development support and evaluation of medical devices
Planning and improving devices based on clinical needs, and evaluating performance through measurement experiments with human participants. We also develop monitoring devices that can be used at home.
ExamplesVascular access monitoring system for home haemodialysis
What we offer
- We have a track record of research with clinical departments at Fujita Health University Hospital, so development and evaluation can be grounded in real clinical needs.
- We can take a project from prototyping sensors and measurement circuits, through signal processing and machine-learning analysis, to clinical evaluation.
- Our results have been published in international journals and conferences, and have led to a granted patent.
How we can work together
- Technical consultation
- Joint research
- Contract research
- Academic advice
- Contact us by email with a brief description of the technology or problem you are interested in.
- We meet (online is fine) to discuss the problem and how we might work on it together.
